What we do

Ground Zero Environmental provides a range of services to clients, offering practical environmental management solutions to government and industry. Ground Zero projects often fall outside of what might be considered routine and include the development of strategic advice on the most effective pathway for regulatory approvals for national security projects through to detailed impact assessments and management plans for undertaking site works in contaminated environments.

Ground Zero principal, Colin Trinder has over 30 years experience in environmental management and policy. He has worked extensively at the interface between regulators, industry and the community helping to develop and communicate practical solutions to environmental issues, obtain key approvals, and implement environmental controls. He has extensive experience putting together expert teams to find solutions to environmental challenges.

Until 2012, when he established Ground Zero Environmental, Colin Trinder was the Director of Environmental Impact Management for the Australian Department of Defence. For more than 12 years he directed the environmental impact assessment of some of Australia's largest public sector projects. He managed the Defence contamination legacy including unexploded ordnance and chemical weapons remediation. Prior to Defence Colin was a senior manager with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and retains many close links within organisations engaged in protected area and marine environmental management.

Ground Zero Environmental has a wide network of contacts throughout government and industry and includes among its diverse list of clients Defence Support and Reform Group, the Royal Australian Navy, Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, the World Rally Championship and the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport. Ground Zero has also partnered with a number of other environmental and engineering consulting companies to deliver the right team with the right experience to tackle challenging projects in impact and contamination assessment for infrastructure delivery, contamination remediation and environmental management.
